Ford Model Y, 1937, two door saloon. This vehicle has been in the family for over 50 years. The vehicle was running and complete when it was put into dry storage in a corner of my father’s garage/workshop. The intention was to restore it one day. The restoration started approximately 30 years later and that was 20 years ago, unfortunately it never got completed. My late father who eventually began the restoration was a self employed skilled mechanic by trade and he began the work as a retirement project. The vehicle was stripped into many pieces and a lot of the mechanical parts were successfully overhauled. The engine, gearbox, rear axle/diff assembly, the front axle king pins to name a few completed items. Unfortunately the restoration came to a halt for my father when he was confronted by the welding repairs of the bodywork. Looking at the car, the chassis appears solid and so does most of the body. There is however visible corrosion to the front radiator panel at the bottom and both inner and outer rear wings/arches are holed, the nearside being the worst.Viewing the vehicle is highly recommended as I’m sure there are bits that I have missed. The vehicle is dry stored in Brighton, Sussex. Please, contact me for more information.
