I need to realistically reassess what projects I am going to get finished. The first point to note is that as it spent its life in South Africa I am the first registered owner in the UK. This is a 2.8 Ghia auto estate. (I think the South African equivalent is GLX) It has all the usual Ghia spec including air con, which is not currently plumbed in, but is all there. It is now running on a Webber carburettor. It is a numbers matching engine. I have carried out a great deal of mechanical work on this car, so it drives great. With some of the stuff I have done /replaced I have managed to use NOS Ford parts. Everything works, except obviously the air con and central locking. I know what it is but I cannot crawl under the dash to get to it (it’s the central control box) It has a relatively new exhaust system and tyres, plugs, leads, water pump, oil and filter change, new prop shaft donut, new break flex hoses all round, recon rack and pinion, x2 new head lights. This list goes on. I cannot emphasis how solid this car is due to being a SA import. It is also solid around the heater bulk head area (usually a weak spot) I can send photos to of the underneath to prove this, it will never need any structural welding underneath. The only weak spots on the car are the sunroof panel (I have a replacement) and a bit by one bonnet hinge, this is possible due to condensation with the rapid changes in temperature in SA Interior is very good and all original. The dash board does have 2 or 3 cracks in it due, again, to the heat. All doors have been apart and lubricated. ie windows and solenoids. And whilst I was dealing with that side of things I sprayed wax oil in all the bottoms of the doors. The only thing of note, when I first got it, it had a fabricated petrol tank in it which I have changed for a good standard one, but for some reason the sender unit reads a quarter of a tank when it runs out of fuel. I think it just needs the float adjusted. Im quite happy to send photos of anywhere you want to see
