Have owned the car just before we went into covid lock down in 2020, because of all the restrictions at the time I started tinkering with it that turned into a full resto! My intentions were to build a very reliable car that could be used without reliability issues, the MFI system was giving me grief so i decided to convert to EFI standalone management.
I used it for a few years attending local car shows and meets however my interests have changed somewhat in the last few years, coupled with losing interest in classic fords and some home renovation plans ive decided to part ways with her, as follows is a spec list, ive tried to add as much spec as I possibly can;
1989 F reg originally a crossover model, first sold by white brothers ltd of Taunton, it’s had 13 previous owners which is pretty common for this nature of car, it’s also done 76000 miles however there may be a slight discrepancy due to a speedometer change by the previous owner (i do have the original clocks) looking at the mot history I’d suggest it’s more like 90000, it’s also HPI CLEAR with tons of service history.
Body:
Fully resprayed, gravitex’d and painted underside, new fuel tank, associated welding completed to a high standard during 2020/21, keeping a standard look, only aesthetic mods are the 90 spec front bumper and rear spoiler, full new matching key lockset, cobra cat1 alarm system with certificate
Engine:
1.8zvh built by the previous owner, internals relatively standard as far as im aware, using a decompression plate, EFI converted running a live mapped standalone MAXXECU mini management system mapped by Michael Clarke at ignition advantages with ecu monitor gauge and closed loop lambda control, coil packs and iridium denso plugs, Siemens injectors, it runs a very safe and reliable power of 209bhp @15psi which is pretty fun in such a lightweight car, it runs a T3 .48 cosworth turbo bought new from enhanced turbo ltd, Full 3″ scorpion exhaust system, large full front airtec intercooler and alloy radiator, black rouse motorsport silicone hoses, new bosch fuel pump, new starter motor and alternator.
Transmission:
Standard BC rs turbo gearbox rebuilt with new bearings and seals
hydraulic clutch conversion
CG motorsport heavy duty organic clutch.
Suspension and drivetrain:
Uprated shocks with 40mm lower apex springs
Mix of powerflex and superpro poly bushes
All components were blasted powdercoated or zinc plated
Standard 15″ rs turbo wheels toyo T1R 195/50/15 tyres
Brakes:
Cosworth 4×4 front calipers and discs
Cosworth 2wd rear disc conversion
Custom braided hose set with all new brake lines, master cylinder and rear bias valves
Interior:
Relatively standard 90 spec that it originally came with, new seat boosters fitted by capital seating, door cards really good, new headlining and refurbished interior door handles
I’ve tried to be as honest and as thorough as I can, if you are genuinely interested and in a position to buy, by all means message any questions if ive missed anything but please don’t waste my time if you have no intentions of owning it.
£15000 Start price with no reserve, please do not message asking to end the auction early as its the fairest way to decide the value of the car, i haven’t seen a car of this standard sell recently so unsure of its true value, a lot of time and money has gone into this car and there is no way you could buy and restore/build a car to this level for that amount and that’s before you calculate all the labour time.
